Born and raised until the age of 10 in Poland. Suddenly ripped out from a child’s safe haven and moved to Germany (in 1987 it was still West Germany) by parents who figured they will give my brother and me a better life outside the communist system (two years later the system disappeared and smart people my age made millions on a population that had never seen or heard about marketing). Lived and schooled in Germany for 2 years when suddenly parents figured that life in Germany for a Pole was never going to be normal (see world war 1, world war 2, year 1410, year 996, 1796 as examples; I’ve been called Polish swine, dumb Pole, etc.) and they decided to move again, this time across the ocean to the land where maple syrup flows through the streets, everybody is wealthy, no one does much work, all is given.
